Unlocking Galatians Again by Clarence Reyneveld

Unlocking Galatians Again

(Paperback - Aug 21, 2007)

Happy memory: Once the Galatian Christians were like an orchestra, playing beautiful music in harmony. The Apostle Paul had been their conductor. He formed them "from the dust of the earth," so to speak, because they were rugged material when he first came to them. My, how happy was the day!

Tragic development: But Paul has gone away and now "new conductors" have arrived on the scene. They tell the orchestra that Paul was wrong in what he taught them. They say Paul has no valid credentials. As the "new conductors" conduct the orchestra it becomes "an orchestra in chains." The spiritual music they are making sounds terrible.

Letter to the orchestra: The Apostle Paul, from a distance, writes his letter to this "orchestra in chains." He wants them to know how far they have fallen away and he wants to help them to play beautiful music again. He presents a letter that is tender, yet filled with wonder at what has happened to his dear friends. This will need to be a "hard hitting" letter or otherwise his beloved orchestra will remain under their "new conductors." Then they will remain in chains, lost to Paul and the beautiful music they once played together.

Unlocking Galatians Again is a verse-by-verse journey through Galatians. Like an underground cavern it has impressive chambers. Some hidden chambers will need to be opened and explored.

Like the sun, St. Paul's epistle to the Galatians shines forth with light. During Luther's time it pierced the darkness. History shows us that when its light grows dim, God's people become like a wilted flower. When its light grows bright, we become like a thriving plant. It teaches us how to walk by faith by telling us where to focus our faith. Translation decisions can sometimes hinder some of its light from shining. For the Pastor, it may change the way we preach and care for the spiritual needs of others.

Walk with Luther through this cavern. You will discover spiritually impressive sights which he experienced while traveling through Galatians.
